Jake Weber led the District 10 (Fort Wayne) team to its third straight win in pool play at the Big League World Series on Friday at Easley, S.C. Weber had three hits, including a home run and had four RBIs in an 8-1 win over Anaheim, Calif. If his bat wasn't enough, the Homestead graduate didn't allow a run in five innings pitched to get the win on the mound.
With the win, Fort Wayne improved to 3-0 in pool play and advanced to the semifinals on Tuesday. They have one pool-play game remaining – Monday against Cumberland, N.J. The top two teams in the United States pool advance to the semifinals. Fort Wayne's opponent in the semifinals is yet to be determined.
Besides Weber's three, others contributing to Fort Wayne's 13-hit attack were Andre Jernigan (3), Charlie Sipe (2), Tyler Herbst (2) and Evan Vansumeren, Grant Wilson and Will Coursen-Carr with one each.
