Help getting fit
The free “Out & About — A Guide to Family Fun, Fitness & Food” publication now is available from the McMillen Center for Health Education.
The guide for Allen County residents includes listings for health-and-wellness organizations, walking and biking trails, playgrounds and parks, pools, health-oriented events, winter fitness activities and farmers markets broken down by area: northeast, southeast, southwest, northwest and downtown.
Also included are “10 Ways to Be More Active,” information about Fort Wayne's Playful City USA activities, suggestions for meal planning and “10 Ways to Eat Healthier,” a news release said. An activity matrix also highlights features offered at more than 60 Allen County parks, such as ball diamonds, basketball courts, boating access sites, fishing, football and rugby fields, playgrounds, Rivergreenway entrances, soccer fields and tennis courts.
The guide is made possible in part through funding from the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation.
