The Cedar Creek Companions 4-H Club was named the Outstanding 4-H Club for 2012 at the 4-H Awards ceremony at the recent Allen County Fair, a news release said.
Cedar Creek Companions was selected from among the more than 25 4-H Clubs in Allen County.
The club meets in the Leo-Cedarville area. It has 87 members ranging in age from preschool through Grade 12.
Club members participated in numerous community-service activities throughout the year, including the Allen County Fairgrounds Christmas Tree Decorating Contest; Food Can Drive; and pop tab collection.
They assisted at all the 4-H Board Fundraisers this year: the Hog Roast, Clover Carnival and both silent auctions. In addition, they did extra promotion for 4-H this past year by holding an open house at their meeting location and participating in the Grabill Country Fair Parade.
During 2012, they have added 18 new members to their club. The club's volunteer leaders are Jill Bonin, Lori Park, Amber Sieber, Christie Livingston, Lisa Cushing and Mike Bonin.
The club received a certificate and a cash gift from Allen County 4-H Clubs, Inc. They also received a traveling banner and plaque.
Other awards
Nine other 4-H Clubs were recognized for their work over the past year.
Silver recognition went to: Aboite Homesteaders, Lama Lovers – Critter Haven Farm, and Golden Hearts.
Bronze recognition went to: Blue Ribbons, Marion BGs, Eel River, Maumee Go Getters, Pleasant Pals and Three Rivers Rabbit Raisers.
