When Fasick was 5 years old, he lost two-thirds of his left foot in a lawn-mowing accident. While making a turn, his father had not seen his son run up to the mower. Doctors originally thought they might have to amputate the foot above the ankle, but Fasick underwent three surgeries in four days.
