Alzheimer's workshop

“Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease: The Basics” workshop will be 1-2:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Allen County Public library, Georgetown branch, 6600 E. State. Blvd. The workshop is free.

Parkview Women's Health events

Free for members and $5 nonmembers; 6:30-8 p.m. Aug. 16, Finance Program. Speaker will be Scott Cook, financial expert. The event is free; 6-7 p.m. Aug. 21, Exercise/Relaxation Sampler. The class is free and will feature Zumba; 2-4 p.m. Aug. 22, Foot Screenings with Dr. Dennis Chubinski, Parkview Physicians Group. The event is free for members and $5 nonmembers; and 6:30-8 p.m. Aug. 30, Sleep Program. Presenter will be Dr. Srinivasan Devanathan, Parkview Physicians Group. The session is free. Lifesaver honored

IPFW Police Officer Andrew T. Cottrell received the American Red Cross Lifesaving Team Award for the Professional Responder for his actions in helping save the life of James Momper July 25, 2011, at Shoaff Park Golf Course. The award was presented July 25 at IPFW.

National Health Center Week

Neighborhood Health Clinics will celebrate National Health Center Week 2012 today through Saturday. Information about the clinics will be available 9 a.m.-3 p.m. today and tomorrow at Kroger, Southgate Plaza, 218 E. Pettit Ave.; 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday , Science Central, 1950 N. Clinton St.; 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, National College First annual Community Health Fair, 6131 N. Clinton St.; and 7-10 p.m. Thursday, TinCaps, Parkview Field, 1301 Ewing St.; 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, Walmart, 5311 Coldwater Road; and noon-5 p.m. Saturday, South Side Health Fest, Rudisill Plaza, northwest corner of Rudisill Boulevard and Clinton Street. Lung cancer run/walk

Free to Breathe Fort Wayne Lung Cancer 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Walk will begin with registration at 1 p.m. Sept. 16 at Headwaters Park, 330 S. Clinton St. The event will raise funds for the National Lung Cancer Partnership's Research, Education and Awareness Programs.

Cost will be $20 adults and $10 youth ages 10 and younger for online registration, which closes Sept. 12; $23 adults and $10 youth ages 10 and younger for mail-in registration, which closes Sept. 10; and $25 adults and $10 youth ages 10 and younger event day. All online and mail-in registrants are guaranteed an event T-shirt.
