I-69 sign changes under way in Fort Wayne

Tuesday, August 7, 2012 - 5:06 pm

Crews with the Indiana Department of Transportation this week began replacing exit and mile-marker signs along Interstate 69 in Fort Wayne as part of the ongoing I-69 extension in southern Indiana.

Because of the interstate's added mileage, INDOT will add 200 miles to every mile marker and exit sign north of Indianapolis. For example, Exit 116 at Dupont Road will become Exit 316.

Workers started replacing signs along southbound I-69 last week at the Michigan state line and are working their way to the southern end of INDOT's Fort Wayne District, mile marker 55, before switching to the northbound lanes.

The News-Sentinel's partner WANE-TV, NewsChannel 15, reported that INDOT changed Fort Wayne's northernmost exit, at Dupont Road, early Tuesday morning and were working their way through the city.
