Something for everyone at school district auction

FWCS to sell equipment from Elmhurst, other schools

Wednesday, August 15, 2012 - 7:35 pm

Fort Wayne Community Schools could receive a small boost to its general fund, the fund that pays mostly teacher salaries and health insurance, at the end of the month when the district holds a public auction to sell off loose equipment from the now-closed Elmhurst High School.

Spokeswoman Krista Stockman said most of the equipment is from Elmhurst, but also includes equipment from other schools. At its previous auction of shop equipment last year, the district made $38,000. Stockman said this auction has much more equipment than the previous one.

And she said there will be something for everyone.

“If you're looking for something, we probably have it,” she said.

The full list of items, including some photos, can be found here.

Stockman said Elmhurst alumni might be particularly interested in some of the former high school memorabilia, like warm-up uniforms. Many of the school's trophies and plaques are on display elsewhere or were requested by athletes and alumni. She also said sets from the school's many plays and productions will be auctioned as well.

Other equipment from the weight room and cafeteria, desks, cabinets, computers, printers and pianos will also be available for purchase. The auction will be held at Elmhurst, 3829 Sand Point Road., on Aug. 25. A preview will be held the previous day. Online bidding for some items is also available.
