If you love art, it's time to get real.

The Fort Wayne Museum of Art displays some of the latest thinking in realist art when it opens its Contemporary Realism Biennial 2012 exhibition this Saturday. The exhibition, which includes painting, sculpture and drawing, continues through Oct. 28.

Art featured in the exhibition represents a wide array of ideas, approaches, styles and subject matter, a museum news release said.

The museum invited artists from around the country to submit work for inclusion in the juried exhibit, the news release said. The exhibition includes nearly 100 pieces from artists in 34 states, a broader geographic representation than ever.

The exhibition also includes an increased number of artists of diverse ethnic heritage, who illustrate themes from their cultures, the news release said.

The museum will award prizes winners selected by juror Frank Bernarducci, director and partner of Bernarducci.Meisel.Gallery, a prominent realist art gallery in New York's SoHo district.

The local art museum also will celebrate the exhibition with a Fall Party from 6 to 9 pm Oct. 12 at the museum. Many of the artists in the exhibition will attend. Party admission is $5 per person.
