Books published

Former Fort Wayne resident Vern Setchell recently had two ebooks published under his pen name, Sam Black. “Avengement” is a novel about two friends who seek revenge against the Mafia; “Humor to Remember” is a collection of 14 short humor stories. Setchell, who lived in Fort Wayne and Churubusco from about 1980 to the early 1990s, also expects to have another novel, “Fatal Serum,” published as an ebook by late December. Now living in St. Petersburg, Fla., Setchell plans to donate 20 percent of book sale proceeds to the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute in Tampa, Fla.

Adult book group

The adult book group meets at 2 p.m. Aug. 29 at Aboite branch library, 5630 Coventry Lane. “The Paris Wife” by Paula McLain is this month's book.

New book

Wanda E. Brunstetter will be available to sign copies of her new book, “The Half-Stitched Amish Quilting Club,” as well as copies of her other books, 4-6 p.m. Aug. 24 and 9:30-11:30 a.m. Aug. 25 at Blue Gate Theater, 195 N. Van Buren St., Shipshewana. The theater will hold the premiere of “Half-Stitched: The Musical,” based on Brunstetter's newest book, at 7 p.m. 1-888-447-4725.

Author visit

Wanda E. Brunstetter will make an author visit at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Grabill branch library, 13521 State St., Grabill. Her books will be for sale, and she will sign autographs.

Ease into eBooks

Owners of eReaders, tablets, smartphones and laptops who need help downloading eBooks from the library's website can attend an information session at 1 and 7 p.m. Thursday at Tecumseh branch library, 1411 E. State Blvd.

The “Classics” adult book group meets at 7 p.m. Aug. 28 at Dupont branch library, 536 E. Dupont Road. “The Maltese Falcon” by Dashiell Hammett is this month's book.
