Fundraiser
Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry will hold its 2012 Bowshoot, BBQ & Auction fundraiser Aug. 26 at the Izaak Walton League of America, 17100 Griffin Road near Huntertown.
The Bow Shoot will take place 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m., with the barbecue from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The event also will have adult and youth trick shots, games of chance, and silent and live auctions.
Last year, the organization provided more than 58,000 pounds of meat to the hungry in northeast Indiana.

Plowing ahead
The Jay County Visitor and Tourism Bureau will hold its fifth annual Tractor Ride beginning at 9:15 a.m. Aug. 21, departing from the Jay County Fairgrounds. Tractor drivers will travel through Pennville on the way to Blackford County and lunch in Montpelier, a news release said.
There is no charge to take part in the ride, and lunch will be provided by the Montpelier Chamber of Commerce at the Montpelier Speedway, the news release said. Census Bureau app
The U.S. Census Bureau has its first smartphone and tablet app.
The app, “America's Economy,” will provide constantly updated statistics on the U.S. economy, including monthly economic indicators, trends and a schedule of upcoming announcements, a news release said.
The app is available now for Android mobile device users, and is expected be available for Apple smartphone and tablet users in the Apple App Store in the coming weeks, the news release said. It is the first of three mobile-device apps the Census Bureau plans to release over the next several months.
The following 16 key economic indicators will be available as part of the initial release of the first app:
•Census Bureau: Advance Monthly Retail Sales, New Residential Construction, New Residential Sales, Construction Spending, International Trade, Advance Report Durable Goods, Business Inventories, Manufacturers' Goods, Monthly Wholesale, Homeownership Rate, Quarterly Services Survey, QFR – Retail Trade, QFR – Manufacturing.
•Bureau of Economic Analysis: Gross Domestic Product, Personal Income and Outlays.
•Bureau of Labor Statistics: Unemployment Rate
