Authorities on Monday identified the victims in Allen County's 22nd and 23rd homicides of 2012.
A 21-year-old Fort Wayne man, identified by the Allen County Coroner's Office as Cortez Antonio Harris, died in a shooting early Saturday morning in the 500 block of Birchtree Lane.
The coroner's office also named Gregory A. Funich as the 42-year-old man found dead of head injuries Saturday at his home in the 5300 block of Lonesome Oak Court, in northeast Allen County. Funich died of blunt-force trauma to the head, the coroner's office ruled.
With the two deaths, Allen County and Fort Wayne this year have nearly reached last year's homicide count of 24.
Police have made no arrests in Harris' shooting death. The Fort Wayne Police Department previously said officers responded at about 12:38 a.m. Saturday to a reported shooting in the 500 block of Birchtree, where they found Harris unresponsive in a parking lot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported seeing a dark-colored vehicle leaving the scene immediately after the incident, but the police department has released no suspect information. The death remains under investigation.
A 33-year-old Auburn man, Michael R. Alexander, has been charged with aggravated battery in Funich's death.
Alexander was originally arrested Friday night by IPFW campus police officers for allegedly driving under the influence and resisting arrest. Police later found that Alexander had been driving a car that belonged to Funich, according to the Allen County Sheriff's Departmnet.
