Indiana's unemployment rate remained at 8.3 percent in July, the same as it was the previous month, and Allen County and four adjoining counties were below that statewide rate.
According to jobless statistics released this morning by the state's Department of Workforce Development, Allen County's unemployment rate fell to 7.7 percent last month from 7.8 percent in June. Other counties in the region with unemployment rates below the state average are:
*Adams, with 7.6 percent in July, down from 7.9 percent in June.
*Wells, with 6.9 percent, up from 6.8 percent in June.
*Huntington, with 8.2 percent, up from 8.1 percent.
*Whitley remained steady with 7.2 percent unemployment both months.
*Lagrange fell to 7.7 percent from 7.9 percent in June.
Noble, DeKalb and Steuben counties had unemployment rates of 8.5-8.8 percent in July, higher than the statewide average.
None of these figures are seasonally adjusted.
