Miami Heat guard LeBron James wants to play in the next Olympics. James hopes to do something he hasn't yet achieved: Receive a pass in an Olympic game from Carmelo Anthony.

San Francisco Giants outfielder Melky Cabrera tried to avoid his 50-game suspension for steroid use by setting up a fake website featuring a fictitious product that would explain his positive drug test. Apparently, it was to be an energy drink called Eau de Idiot.

Meeting of the minds

The New York Giants are taking heat for a videotape incident in which defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul dumps defensive back Prince Amukamara into an ice tub. The video was posted on Twitter by punter Steve Weatherford. Next time this trio should stick to attending their usual Mensa meeting.

College football extremes

USC has been voted No.1 in the Associated Press preseason Top 25 poll. In a related move, ESPN writer Rick Reilly stood outside Notre Dame Stadium chanting “Over-rated! Over-rated!” at the unranked Fighting Irish.
