Grateful for our pro-life leadership

I would just like to say I am grateful for the pro-life leadership that Cathie Humbarger has shown in our area for so many years.

In the recent claim she filed under the ADA with the U.S. Department of Justice against FWWH (the local abortion clinic) she has shown once again that the pro-life movement is about caring about all life, born and unborn . I understand her concern for the patients who have undergone this invasive procedure because I have also witnessed the condition of the patients as they come out. It is heart wrenching to sometimes see their inability to even walk down the steps and to their vehicle unassisted. There are also times when they are either laid in the back seat or the front passenger seat is reclined to a flat position for them. With this said, it makes sense that the natural response for them would be to have a wheelchair to assist them to make it easier and you obviously need a ramp to be able to make a smooth transition from the building to the vehicle. If accessibility is expected for other private and public businesses, shouldn’t it be expected here as well?

'Hope and change' now 'divide and conquer'

Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign slogan was “Hope & Change.” He promised to renew Washington with across-the-aisle cooperation. He guaranteed “openness” in all matters relative to the office of president. The nation believed he was sincere and his “change” would be for the good.

Hillary Clinton, as his primary opponent, soon discovered his “change” came in the form of personal ridicule and slander. That disgusting act should have been a clue to his future intent. On Inauguration Day, he swore to “uphold the Constitution of the United States of America” and “defend it against all enemies foreign and domestic.” Then he took office.

He appointed to his new cabinet socialists, tax evaders, far left sympathizers and even communists along with others of questionable ability. He visited foreign countries and lambasted our nation. Another indicator of his real plan was the naming of some three dozen “czars” — without congressional approval — who formed large new government bureaus that answer only to this president.

Since his term began, this president’s appointees and government agencies have issued more than 1,400 new regulations that avoid oversight by Congress. These rules disrupt all types of business enterprises, including actual destruction of entire industries, massive loss of jobs and an explosion of welfare recipients.

During the first two years as president he had majority power in both houses of Congress. He took control of auto manufacturers, banks, the medical field, energy programs and other parts of the economy. Through his uncontrolled stimulus and politically motivated taxpayer-guaranteed federal loans (to questionable and downright faulty programs) he has — so far — added several trillion dollars to the nation’s debt.

Obama’s major “achievement” was “Obamacare.” This law will immediately take $716 million from Medicare and spend it somewhere else. The Congressional Budget Office estimates it will add trillions of dollars to our future debt. All this before the regulations for this law (some 30,000 pages is the estimate) are written.

This is not the complete story of Obama’s frightening record. But, it’s all he has to run on for re-election. So his campaign is continuing its Chicago-style of politics: Defame and ridicule along with some real doozy outright lies. Living in Washington, he has added D.C. (divide and conquer) to his repertoire. You have a distinct choice in November — continue with this madness or restart our historic proven free enterprise system and basic constitutional rights and privileges.
