Menchie's self-serve frozen yogurt, 6408D W. Jefferson Blvd., is celebrating its grand opening this week with a different special each day:
• 2-4 p.m. today, kids 10 and younger eat free.
•11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, half-off frozen yogurt.
•3 p.m. Thursday, free dodge ball with every cup purchased.
•8 p.m.-close Friday, buy one frozen yogurt, get one free.
Menchie's hours are 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday; 11 a.m.-midnight Saturday-Sunday. (The restaurant will close an hour earlier once the weather gets cooler.)
Lunch on the Square extended
The Downtown Improvement District has extended the Thursday Lunch on the Square concert series through the third Thursday in September. Bring your lunch or buy from a food truck or local restaurant and head to the courtyard at One Summit Square (on the corner of Wayne and Calhoun streets) to enjoy free live music.
Youtheatre fundraiser
If you have an interest in theater and show business and you've never gotten to hear Harvey Cocks talk about his experiences, then you're in for a treat. At 7 p.m. Sept. 15 at Arena Dinner Theatre, 719 Rockhill St., the Fort Wayne Youtheatre artistic director will be the featured speaker at Youtheatre's annual fundraiser. “An Evening with Harvey Cocks” includes a cocktail buffet and conversation with Cocks, moderated by IPFW Fine Arts Department Chair John O'Conell.
Cocks will talk about his life on Broadway, his work and friendships with celebrities, and teaching and learning from young performers at the Youtheatre for more than 34 years. Ceruti's Café in the lower level of Citizens Square, 200 E. Berry St., is celebrating football season this week by offering a slice of pizza for $1.75 and barbecue wings or hot wings for 50 cents each at lunchtime. The café is open 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Quaker Steak
Quaker Steak & Lube, 407 Coliseum Blvd W., is offering 10 entrees under $10 today through Oct. 14 as a way to celebrate back-to-school season. Choices include Custom Built Combos with Wings Your Way, Baby Back Ribs, Sesame Chicken Rice Bowl and the New SoCo Fiery Pepper BBQ Chicken or Tex Mex Chix Queso Mac.
