Saturday, September 8, 2012 - 5:08 pm

One person is dead after a semi tractor-trailer crashed with a car on U.S. 24 just east of Doyle Road on Saturday afternoon.

At around 1:15 p.m. the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report that an 86-year-old woman traveling west on U.S. 24 was struck when she crossed into the eastbound lane of an oncoming semi, according to a news release. The car collided with the semi and spun into a yard on the north side of the road. The female driving the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. This crash remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
