Early blitz leads East Noble over Norwell

Saturday, September 22, 2012 - 6:52 am

KENDALLVILLE – East Noble made sure to get plenty of scoring in before the hardest rain came.

It blitzed to a 24-0 first-quarter lead and maintained control for a 37-14 win over Norwell on Friday night at East Noble.

East Noble quarterback Nic Weimer led the way, completing 21 of 29 passes for 306 yards and three touchdowns, including two to Grey Fox. Fox caught 10 passes for 165 yards. East Noble running back Brandon Mable rushed for 78 yards and caught five passes for 98 yards

East Noble improved to 4-2 (2-2 Northeast Hoosier Conference) and will be home against Columbia City next Friday.

Norwell, led by two rushing touchdowns by quarterback Piercen Harnish, fell to 0-6 (0-4 NHC). Norwell snared two interceptions in the second half, one by Alex Mills that almost turned into a touchdown, and one by Nathan Shelton that prevented another East Noble score.

Norwell hosts DeKalb (1-5, 0-4 NHC) with both teams looking to grab that first conference win.
