Fort Wayne Police on Saturday morning were searching for a suspect after a runner was reportedly sexually assaulted on the Greenway.

Shortly before 11 a.m.,officers responded to a call of a sexual assault near the bridge at Lower Huntington Road at Tillman Road. A passing driver disrupted the sexual assault of a female jogger who had been running along the Greenway, according to police.

Witnesses provided a thorough description of the attacker, who was last seen running north from the bridge along the Greenway, according to police.

Because of the nature of this crime and the time of day, police believe the attacker might have entered nearby apartments or may have been seen further down the Greenway by other users.

Residents are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings, keep friends and family informed of their whereabouts and to report any suspicious behavior or activity to the police.
