A 42-year-old Ohio man is now in the Huntington County Jail, facing three criminal charges after police said he led an Indiana State Police trooper on a chase while the suspect drove naked on Interstate 69.Chad A. Knoll of Montpelier, Ohio, is charged with resisting law enforcement, a Class D felony; operating while intoxicated under a controlled substance, a Class C misdemeanor; and public nudity, a Class C misdemeanor.

Master Trooper Gary Shenefield reported that at about 8:40 a.m. Thursday, he was on routine patrol on northbound I-69 near the 279 mile marker when he saw a red Pontiac Grand Prix parked on the side of the road. Shenefield said he parked his patrol car behind the Grand Prix and walked up to the passenger door where he saw Knoll sitting in the driver's seat, naked and masturbating.

As Shenefield radioed for assistance, Knoll tried to start his vehicle, which was already running, and against verbal orders to stop, put the car into drive and sped away. Shenefield, with his emergency lights and siren activated, chased after Knoll north on I-69. Knoll pulled his vehicle off the road at the 283 mile marker, where he was immediately arrested by Shenefield.

Knoll was taken to Parkview Huntington Hospital before being cleared for incarceration at the Huntington County Jail in lieu of a $14,000 bond.
