As a result, the station has organized a communitywide baby shower during October to benefit parents being helped by the A Baby's Closet ministry at Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County, an Associated Churches news release said.
Lynn is blessed with family and friends who are holding baby showers to help her with all of the items needed by infants and young children, she said in the new release. But she realized many other expectant moms don't have that support.
People are invited to donate diapers, baby wipes, teething rings, baby wash and baby powder at all Peerless Cleaners and YMCA locations in Allen County. Larger items, such as new car seats or new cribs, are desperately needed and must be dropped off at Associated Churches, 602 E. Wayne St.
The collection drive will end with a Celebration Day 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 27 at DeBrand Fine Chocolates, 10105 Auburn Park Drive. Lynn will be there to give a piece of DeBrand chocolate to every person who brings a donated baby item, the news release said.
A Baby's Closet helps families who are struggling financially by offering them opportunities to earn coupons they can use to “buy” baby-care items from A Baby's Closet, the news release said. They earn coupons by participating in classes and other programs designed to encourage prenatal health of the mother and health of baby after birth.
