Brookside receives award

The Historic Preservation Committee of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution has presented the Sisters of Saint Francis of Perpetual Adoration a Historic Preservation Recognition Award for its restoration of Brookside, the former Bass family mansion, on the University of Saint Francis campus, 2701 Spring St.

4-H receives funds

Allen County 4-H Clubs received $825.50 from the 4-H paper clover fundraiser held in May at Tractor Supply Co. The campaign was a top seller in Indiana and was recognized by the National 4-H Council.

Donations accepted to help animals

Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control is accepting donations for its Angel Fund, which will assist with medical bills of advanced cruelty and neglect cases. Call 427-5508.

‘Pink Your Porch’

Walgreen's will have pink light bulbs for sale for $5 to “Pink Your Porch” during October. Proceeds benefit the Susan G. Komen Northern Indiana affiliate, as well as research to find a cure for breast cancer.

DID wins award

During its most recent annual conference, the International Downtown Association recognized the Downtown Improvement District (DID) with a Downtown Merit Award for its work and initiatives related to marketing downtown Fort Wayne through the Discover Downtown video series.

YWCA needs nominations

YWCA Northeast Indiana is accepting nominations for its YWCA Northeast Indiana Hope Awards. Categories include Women's Economic Empowerment, Racial Justice, Child Advocacy, Junior Hope Award and Domestic Violence Prevention and Intervention. Nomination forms are available at Winners will be announced Oct. 22-26.
