Briefs: Janie Fricke exhibits open in Whitley County

In honor of October being Country Music Month, the Whitley County Historical Museum will present two exhibits on country star Janie Fricke, a South Whitley native.Items ranging from her instruments to clothing will be displayed at the county Historical Museum, 108 W. Jefferson St., and the Whitley County Government Center, 220 W Van Buren St., both inColumbia City, a news release said.

The exhibits continue through Oct. 31.The History Center, 302 E. Berry St., will hold a ribbon cutting at 2 p.m. Tuesday to open its first completely remodeled exhibit space since 1980, a news release said.

The “Allen County Innovation” exhibit focuses on inventions and products conceived of and/or produced in Allen County. It is designed to be interactive and to appeal to all ages.IPFW's Department of Theatre will hold auditions for “Oliver!” at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 14 in Williams Theatre on the campus, 2101 Coliseum Blvd. E. Roles are available for all ages, but the youngest considered will be 7 years old. All adult roles will be cast from the October audition.

Actors should prepare 16-32 bars of a standard musical hearer song, preferably a dramatic cong or ballad. An accompanist will be provided. Vocal auditions will be followed by readings from the script. Perusal copies of the script are available for 24 hours loan through the Department of Theatre with a $5 deposit.
