City-county permit portal up and running

Friday, October 5, 2012 - 6:56 am

An online portal designed to make it easier for businesses to get land-use permits is up and running, Fort Wayne and Allen County officials announced Thursday.

The site-development portal, sitedevelop.acfw.net, allows businesses and developers to apply for permits online and access information about the permitting process. The site is a major feature of a $1.4 million city-county plan to streamline local permitting – a process that can require approval from up to 19 different government departments.

Four departments – public works, right-of-way, planning and building – are currently using the portal, with more departments and services to be added in the future, officials said.

Other parts of the $1.4 million plan – split between the city and county – include simplifying local zoning ordinances and improving customer service by local government workers who deal face-to-face with businesses and developers.
