Barnes & Noble bookstore at Jefferson Pointe plans two special events this month:
*The first annual national Star Wars Reads Day event begins at 2 p.m. Saturday, including readings, games, crafts, trivia and prizes. Members of the 501st Legion in “Star Wars” trooper costumes will be on hand for photos and a game of “stump the trooper.” Parents and children are encouraged to wear their “Star Wars” costumes.
*A Harry Potter Halloween Party will take place at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 with a costume contest and scavenger hunt for ages 7 -16. The person with the best costume will win a NOOK Simple Touch e-reader.
Interested young people should go to www.pottermore.com in advance and register as a fan on the site, so they will be sorted into their Hogwarts house before they arrive.
Both events are free and open to the public. For information, call 432-3343.
