MONTICELLO — A northern Indiana man shot by a police officer after a bank robbery and chase has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

A White County judge ordered the sentence for 44-year-old Gerald Doll of rural Monticello. Doll pleaded guilty to felony charges including robbery resulting in bodily injury and resisting arrest.

The Journal & Courier reports that prosecutors dropped other charges in a plea agreement.

Doll was charged with robbing a bank and a coin laundry in Monticello within 20 minutes of each other in February, then leading officers on a vehicle and foot chase.

Officials say an officer shot Doll in the abdomen after he ignored orders to stop and continued resisting after being hit by a stun gun. He spent a week at an Indianapolis hospital.
