Much of Indiana under freeze warning early Monday

Sunday, October 7, 2012 - 5:48 pm

INDIANAPOLIS — The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for all but the southernmost portions of Indiana for early Monday morning.

A Canadian high pressure system bringing clear skies and calm conditions is forecast to allow lows to fall into the upper 20s to the lower 30s between about 3 a.m. and 9 a.m. Monday in the warning area.

Plants sensitive to the cold will need to be covered up or brought inside in northern, central and parts of southern Indiana to prevent freeze damage.

Southern Indiana's counties along or near the Ohio River are forecast to escape the freeze, but that region is under a frost warning for early Monday. Lows there will fall into the lower to middle 30s, possibly damaging sensitive plants with frost.
