Hunter injured in fall from tree stand

An 80-year-old Ligonier hunter was injured after falling 24 feet from a tree stand.

Carl Folk Jr., with help from his son, he was trying to maneuver himself around to step off the platform of the tree stand and onto the ladder leading to the ground when he.fell after 7:30 p.m. Saturday in southeastern Steuben County, according to Indiana Conservation Officer Todd Lang.

Folk was flown by Samaritan to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. The extent of his injuries was unknown but not believed to be life threatening, according to a news release.

Assisting agencies were the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department, Steuben County EMS, and Hamilton Fire Department.
