I am one of 47 percent, and I understandI understand Romney’s comment; I don’t listen to the liberal media spin on the issues. I understand that Romney was not talking about all of the 47 percent; he was talking about those in that percentage who do see themselves as victims and can’t survive unless someone else is supporting them. I’m having a hard time believing that intelligent people are pretending not to get this.

You can’t pretend you don’t know who he is talking about. I see these people every time I go to the grocery store. I stand behind a woman who is wearing a $500 coat, carries a Coach purse, her nails and hair are obviously professionally done, her cart is full of name-brand foods that I could only dream of purchasing for my family, her children have $300 Nike shoes, and she pays for her groceries with a food stamp card (we, the taxpayers, pay for her groceries so that she can afford all her “luxuries”).

To make matters worse, after I pay for my meager generic groceries that I hope to get us through a few more days with a check that I hope clears, she is still loading her groceries into her 2012 Cadillac Escalade when I get to my car. These are the people Romney is talking about. This woman would not “survive” if she did not have government assistance. For Americans to take one statement that Romney made and dismiss him from their consideration for president is ridiculous. Shall I list all the “misunderstood” statements made by our current president? Are you kidding me? This newspaper wouldn’t print my letter if I did because it would be too long.

As Americans, we need to use our brains when making important choices like who will be running our country. Quit listening to the biased media and do research on your own. I’m not thrilled with either of my choices for this election, but I know one thing, President Obama had his chance. He even said at the beginning of his 2008 campaign that he would only need four years to bring this country back, and he hasn’t done it. What other employer would give their employee four years to do their job?

He was supposed to run a “different” Washington, and bring people together. He has torn us further apart then we have ever been in my lifetime, and I can’t believe the close-minded people who can only see party lines and not see what is happening to our country. It’s time to hire someone else and see what they can do. If they don’t do any better, then they are gone in four years as well. Vote smart America. There are more important issues at hand then some silly “47 percent” comment that the media is shoving down your throat. Our children’s futures depend on it.
