Colts back Donald Brown out with knee injury

Wednesday, October 10, 2012 - 1:19 pm

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Colts running back Donald Brown will be out two or three weeks after having surgery on his knee, Colts interim coach Bruce Arians said today.

Brown tore some cartilage in his knee on the Colts' final two-point conversion Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. He had surgery on Tuesday to repair the damage. Arians said Brown did not injure the knee on his celebration after running for the two points.

Vick Ballard, Mewelde Moore and Delone Carter will handling the running back load for the Colts when they play at the New York Jets at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Ballard said he found out Monday that Brown would be missing some time.

"Vick will start, we'll get Mewelde Moore back and Delone (Carter), who's been waiting for his chance," Arians said. "It's a great opportunity for (Carter) to go out and show his game."

Brown carried 17 times for 84 yards in the Colts' 30-27 win over the Packers.
