A 13-year-old girl was in serious condition Wednesday morning after she was struck by a large tan vehicle as she crossed Broadway to get to her school bus stop.

Fort Wayne Police were called at 6:39 a.m. to the 2400 block of Broadway near Scott Avenue.

Witness reported that the vehicle that struck her was driven by man who was southbound on Broadway, according to a news release. He did not have on the vehicle’s headlights at the time of the crash, but turned them on as he fled on Broadway.

Witnesses reported a large dent on the driver’s side of the car and a possible broken window from the crash. They described it as an older, large four-door vehicle, possibly tan and similar in style to an Oldsmobile 98.
