Pickup wrecks on courthouse lawn

Monday, October 15, 2012 - 11:05 am

A pickup slid across part of the Allen County Courthouse Green and crashed into a light pole Monday morning after its driver lost control of the vehicle at the intersection of Main and Clinton streets.

The driver of the GMC pickup said he was going east on Main when his brakes went out as he tried to stop at the intersection. To avoid hitting a sedan ahead of him at the traffic light, the driver said he swerved to his right and went over a curb at the northeast corner of the courthouse lawn.

The driver, a middle-aged man, said neither he nor the woman who was driving the sedan was hurt. He said his wife, who was riding in the pickup, went to the hospital for a minor injury.
