'Senor' Kerry Miller understands schools
There is much to admire about our public schools, including Fort Wayne Community Schools, though politicians would have us believe otherwise. But our schools can be better. It requires a school board that cares deeply about the students, first and foremost, and board members that truly understand how life in the classroom really works.
If that makes sense to you, I encourage you to support Kerry Miller for Fort Wayne Community Schools board on Nov. 6. I had the privilege to be his student at Lane Junior High in 1971, and he taught me Spanish. But more importantly, he taught me a love of learning. Since that time, both of my sons studied Spanish with “Senor” at Snider High School. And Miller taught them with that same joy, enthusiasm and caring spirit. I’ve never known a finer teacher.
The students and families of FWCS deserve board members who understand how the classroom works, and how it doesn’t. They deserve board members who care deeply for the welfare and success of their students. Miller is exactly that kind of man. Vote him on Nov. 6, and help FWCS become its best.
Light-fund money is taxpayers' money
How dare you! Chamber of Commerce members and well-off business members of this town want all the perks they receive to be paid for by the middle (class) — what’s left of it — and the low-income folks. How dare you say using the light-fund money (taxpayers money) to fill the gap in the budget to keep it off the backs of the middle- and low-income taxpayers is squandering it! That is our money, the taxpayers.
None of you offer a plan for the budget. No solutions. Only don’t take my free money to do as the rich people think is best for this town. How dare you!
Keeping money overseas shameful
As a tax-paying American, I am incensed, insulted, and even ashamed that the standard bearer of one of our major political parties keeps money in the Cayman Islands and in a Swiss bank account.
For someone who is seeking the highest office in the land, who praises “job creators,” this is definitely not walking the talk and borders on being unpatriotic and un-American.
Just how many jobs did all that money create in the U.S.?
