IPFW (20-4, 9-2 Summit League) out-hit South Dakota .211 to .180, including holding South Dakota to a .077 attack percentage in the decisive fifth game.
Libero Tessa McGill also had a season-high 30 digs against South Dakota (9-14, 3-8 Summit League).
South Dakota outside attacker Kendall Kritenbrink in the loss had a match-high 25 kills.
With this victory, the Mastodons secure their fourth consecutive 20-win season. IPFW also remains in first place in the Summit Leauge — leading second-place IUPUI (16-8, 9-3 Summit League) by a half-match.
IPFW will continue conference play this weekend with a two-match road trip as it plays North Dakota State on Friday and South Dakota State on Saturday.
