Outside attacker Emily Spencer had a team-high 19 kills and seven blocks as the IPFW women's volleyball team defeated South Dakota 25-13, 25-23, 22-25, 16-25, 15-12 on Saturday at the Gates Center.
Spencer was one of four Mastodons with double-digit kills in the conference victory. Middle attacker Jessie Manwaring had 14 kills, while outside attacker Kendall Wienkes had 13 kills and outside attacker Hailie Ripley added 11 kills.
IPFW (20-4, 9-2 Summit League) out-hit South Dakota .211 to .180, including holding South Dakota to a .077 attack percentage in the decisive fifth game.
Libero Tessa McGill also had a season-high 30 digs against South Dakota (9-14, 3-8 Summit League).
South Dakota outside attacker Kendall Kritenbrink in the loss had a match-high 25 kills.
With this victory, the Mastodons secure their fourth consecutive 20-win season. IPFW also remains in first place in the Summit Leauge -- leading second-place IUPUI (16-8, 9-3 Summit League) by a half-match.
IPFW will continue conference play this weekend with a two-match road trip as it plays North Dakota State on Friday and South Dakota State on Saturday.
