Stutzman overwhelms Boyd, wins second term

Tuesday, November 6, 2012 - 8:19 pm

U.S. Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-Howe, overwhelmed his Democratic challenger Tuesday, easily cruising to a second term.

With 16 percent of precincts reporting in the 3rd Congressional District, Stutzman was beating Kevin Boyd 72 percent to 28 percent – a margin that, if it held, would give the Republican an even greater victory than his 30-point win two years ago.

The Associated Press called the race for Stutzman shortly after 8 p.m., even though Allen County had not begun reporting its vote totals yet.

In 2010, Stutzman defeated Democrat Tom Hayhurst by almost 30 percentage points to win his first term in the House.
