Two of three incumbents to return to FWCS board

Wednesday, November 7, 2012 - 4:07 am

Two of three incumbents will return to the Fort Wayne Community Schools board for the next legislative term, though the lone defeat was somewhat of a surprise.

John Peirce, the current vice president of the board, was defeated in his bid for reelection in District 2 by Glenna Jehl. Peirce, who has been on the board since 2008, was the point man for the district’s two building projects, one that failed in 2007 and the $119 million project that was approved in May.

Jehl tallied 9,423 votes to oust Peirce, who finished with 5,885, according to the Allen County Election Board. All precincts had reported.

Meanwhile, Becky Hill will return to the board, representing District 3.

Hill posted 7,347 votes to easily outpace challengers Michael T. Davis (4,491 votes) and Kerry A. Miller (2,289 votes).

Steve Corona was unchallenged in District 5. He totaled 10,009 votes.
