My sympathy to local TV stations, which after Nov. 6, will no longer be getting campaign dollars and will once again have to survive running ads for used car lots, personal injury lawyers and ED medication.
As a nonsmoker, I certainly do not advocate for smoking. But for the Housing Authority to not let people smoke in their homes seems totally unreasonable. People in Housing Authority homes have enough problems in their lives; why add this tension?
Does anyone besides me think it’s obscene to allow millions of dollars to be spent on political campaigning when people are out of work and natural disasters occur? Do away with super PACs!
I got a card from Americans for Limited Government with the names of about a dozen neighbors showing if we voted in 2008, 2010 and 2012. It showed me not voting in the 2008 primary. Wouldn’t you think a person running for township office (myself) in 2008 would vote in that election. I did, but they showed me not!
The “oil and stone mess” they recently applied to Indiana 37 is the sorriest excuse for a road resurfacing project I have ever seen! They should be tarred and feathered (maybe stoned) for this inferior job! I am certainly not looking forward to driving on it this winter.
If IDEM (Indiana Department of Environmental Management) is so concerned that the proposed Huntertown wastewater treatment plant would pollute Geller Ditch, they are uneducated! That is why it is treated with chemicals, or UV processes. This is all about the city of Fort Wayne being able to expand and grow into the Huntertown area.
By golly, if we have blizzards or droughts or hurricanes around here and the East Coast like we did back in the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s, I’m blaming climate change. Yeah, weather goes in cycles.
I trust that no one who ascribes to the mantra “We Built That” will be applying for any federal aid to rebuild anything destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.
All of the first responders (for Superstorm Sandy), fire, police and all of the linemen, both for the phone systems and electric utilities, have one thing in common — all union people. Where were all of Mitt Romney’s 1 percent folks — sitting at home waiting? It would be nice if the folks over at Fox would acknowledge this fact.
If churches are going to be used as polling places, they should not be allowed to push their beliefs. The one I voted at had “Vote biblical values.” I am a Christian. I am also an American and believe firmly in separation of church and state.
