After a big win to close out the regular season, the University of Saint Francis Cougars await their first-round playoff date.
Sixth-ranked Saint Francis beat Lindenwood-Belleville 44-7 on Saturday in Belleville, Ill., to finish with an 8-2 record. The Cougars will find out their NAIA Football Championship Series first-round playoff opponent about 4 p.m. today.
Saint Francis sophomore running back Antoin Campbell led the way Saturday with 128 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback David Yoder was 16-of-30 passing for 144 yards and two touchdowns to wide receiver Colin Harruff. Andrew Turner and Denzel Pierce also scored touchdowns for Saint Francis.
On defense, Keith Lewis recovered two fumbles and had an interception.
“I thought overall it was a pretty solid effort because this was kind of a trap game,” Saint Francis coach Kevin Donley told saintfranciscougars.com. “We had a lot of guys step up today, especially in the second half. We challenged them at halftime to come out and play with great intensity, and for the most part, we did.”
