IPFW guard Frank Gaines had himself quite a performance in the Mastodons' season-opening game at Auburn and for his exploits, the senior was named the College Sports Madness Summit League Player of the Week.
Gaines scored a league-best 32 points against the Tigers, which was a new career-high for the Fort Lauderdale, Fla. native. The point total pushed him past David Simon into sixth in the school's career record book.
He hit 10-of-18 shots from the field, inclouding 3-of-8 from long range, and also sank 9-of-11 from the charity stripe.
Gaines added three rebounds, two steals and an assist, as IPFW fell 61-50.
The Mastodons will host Rochester College today at 7 p.m. at the Coliseum.
