Evita, the zoo's female bobcat, passed away last week from an age-related illness. She was 15 years old, and had lived at the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo for 14 years with her brother, Juan.
The bobcat siblings were often the first animals seen by zoo guests because of their location near the zoo entrance. Zookeepers and guests will remember Evita as a beautiful symbol of our state's wild heritage: bobcats once roamed all of Indiana, but are now restricted to just a few remote forests.
