Rebounding is a concern, and we must be able to handle pressure better than we have in the past.

Concordia will be young and inexperienced. Five graduated who all played roles in winning the Class 3A state championship.
What concerns you the most?
Players will need to understand and grow into their roles as the season progresses.
Team goals for this season?
This team is small, so playing very aggressive basketball and rebounding will be critical. Good team quickness is an asset to offset being small.
Overall assessment of team?
We start each season with the goal of “putting teammates before yourself” and “being better today than yesterday both as player and as a person.”

The “newness” of all that comes with new coaching staff, new team offensive and defensive philosophy.
Team goals for this season?
To get better each practice/game as the season progresses, represent our school and community and Northrop's great basketball tradition and compete for championships (conference, conf. tourney, sectional).
Overall assessment of the team?
Good group of basketball players, room for underclassmen to earn varsity minutes, we need to understand how to compete and practice to be competitive on the state level.

Nourachia Jackson, 5-6, So., guard
Mariah Thomas, 5-3, So., guard
Coach Meiklejohn says:
What do you need to succeed?
Keys to our success this season will be how well and quickly we can develop our young inexperienced players to provide support off the bench and how well and quickly our returning players can adapt to expanded or different roles as well as to a new coaching staff!
What concerns you the most?
Our ability to collectively replace the 20+ points, 13 rebounds, toughness and leadership lost with the graduation of four-year starter and 2012 Indiana All-Star Akilah Sims. Also, our overall lack of team size and lack of experienced depth.
Team goals for this season?
Our goal is simply to work and get better every day as a team to be at our best when sectionals start!
Overall assessment of the team?
We possess excellent team speed and quickness as well as experience in our backcourt which we must utilize to offset our overall lack of team size. If we can do this effectively and consistently, we have a chance to be a very successful basketball team.

What do you need to succeed?
I am excited with the outlook of this team. Our team will be led by three seniors who have been with me since their freshman year, my first year as head coach..
Team goals for this season?
We are aggressive and talented but most importantly, hungry! The girls fell short last year and are inspired to get the job done this year! We will be competitive and give our opponents a good game.
Overall assessment of the team?
Our team has great underclassmen players who are also being recruited to play college ball. We have three new players to our roster who will all contribute at some level.
WAYNE
Coach: John J. Foster, 1st season
Last year's record: 9-13
Returning starters/regulars
None
Key newcomers
Joey Stanford, 5-6, Fr., guard
Carmen Jones, 5-9, Jr., forward
Sh'toya Sanders, 6-1, So., forward/center
Kiera Carlisle, 6-0, So., forward/center
Coach Foster says:
What do you need to succeed?
First, we need to get everyone healthy, both Sh'toya Sanders and Kiera Carlisle have been rehabilitating injuries. Secondly, we are a young and inexperienced group. We are going to need for the girls to adjust to the level of play of varsity basketball. If we can take care of the basketball and work hard and smart on the defensive end, we will be a competitive team.
What concerns you the most?
With no returning varsity players, I think that is cause for concern enough! The high quality of schedule that we play with the inexperience that we have is my biggest concern and it will be interesting to see how we actually handle it.
Team goals for this season?
Our No. 1 goal is to play up to our potential game in and game out. Consistent focus, hard work and effort for 32 minutes a game is what we are striving for.
Overall assessment of team?
We are a young team that has some interesting pieces to the puzzle. As the young ladies get more game experience under their belts, I think they will begin to show some improvement with their basketball IQ and their play.
