•Fort Wayne native Tara Olivero was selected to participate in the 2012 U.K. Fulbright Summer Institute program. She is a junior majoring in English at Ball State University.

•IPFW students claimed top honors in the Business Strategy Game (BSG). This year's team, Philip Hernandez, Ling Zheng, Jerry Pauley, Jordan Keil, Kevin Handley, Chris Lampe and Nora Cochran, earned a Global Top 100 ranking for their company's performance during the week of Nov. 5-11.


•The Fort Wayne Community Schools Board of School Trustees approved the following administrative changes on Nov. 12: Lindsay Martin has been named principal at Fairfield Elementary School, replacing Jeff Cline, who resigned from the position. Andrew Kapocius joined FWCS as the manager of Maintenance and Operations, replacing Pat Casey, who retired.

•The Talent Initiative — along with WGU Indiana, Ivy Tech Community College-Northeast, Northeast Indiana Regional Workforce Investment Board and CollegeChoice 529 Savings Plans — announced that registration is open for the new College Completion Counts Conference in northeast Indiana on Saturday. Separate morning and afternoon sessions will be offered: 8:30 a.m.-noon and 12:30-4 p.m. at the Public Safety Academy: Ivy Tech South Campus, 7602 Patriot Crossing. Register online at Registration fee is $10.

•St. Joseph-St. Elizabeth Seton School announced Leslye Yarde as its nominee for the diocesan Light of Learning Award. Yarde is a fifth-grade teacher who has been teaching at the school for seven years.

•Barnes & Noble at Jefferson Pointe will host a special holiday shopping event for Pre-K through 12th-grade teachers, media specialists, administrators and homeschoolers Saturday. Educators will receive a 25 percent discount on books and gift items, a 10 percent discount on music and DVDs, 20 percent off a NOOK Simple Touch and 10 percent off a NOOK Tablet 8 GB or 16 GB when they present their valid Barnes & Noble Educator Discount Card.
