Fort Wayne Police investigate report of possible kidnapping; turned out to be misunderstanding

Wednesday, November 28, 2012 - 6:55 am

A woman reported a possible kidnapping at Apple Glen on Tuesday after she said she saw a man in a ski mask in the back seat of a car with an older woman in the front seat, according to scanner traffic. Investigators later found out that it was a harmless situation.

Fort Wayne Police and Allen County Sheriff's Department officers were searching in the area of Jefferson Boulevard and Lindenwood Avenue at around 4 p.m. They had a car description and a license plate number.

A concerned woman had told police she was driving out of one of the Apple Glen entrances when a car turned in front of her. As she followed it, she saw a man in the front seat with a gray-haired woman and the man in the ski mask in the back seat with his arm around the woman's neck, according to scanner traffic.

The woman's son later told police she was OK; they had visited a cemetery and the man in the back seat was giving the woman a hug.
