University of Saint Francis senior center Brice Darling has earned a spot on the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America College Division Football First Team.
The New Castle Chrysler High School graduate was one of three Cougars chosen for the team. Defensive teammates Lance Carey and Matt Carden were Second-Team selections.
Darling helped Saint Francis post a 9-3 overall record and earn a quarterfinal appearance in the NAIA Football Championship Series.
A first-team all-conference selection in the Mid-States Football Association Mideast League, Darling manned the Cougars' line at center and the USF offensive line which paved the way to the No. 10 scoring offense in the NAIA with 418 points. Darling has a 3.87 G.P.A. as a secondary education major.
Darling is the second member of the Cougars program to earn a first team selection. He joins Derek Atwood, who was chosen in 2011 at running back.
Carey and Carden are the first members of the Saint Francis program to earn COAAA second team selection and Carden is the first Cougar sophomore to earn the honor.
Carey is a secondary education major with a 3.56 GPA while Carden is a math/secondary education major with a 3.97 GPA.
