Basketball legend Michael Jordan was kicked out of La Gorce Country Club in Miami when he refused to change out of cargo shorts on the 12th hole. Club officials asked him never to return.
Look at the club's side of it. If they let Jordan wear cargo shorts on the course, they'd have to let every greatest player in the history of basketball wear them on the course.
Rules are rules, and if Jordan's not willing to wear ugly plaid pants like all the other old rich guys, he can take his millions elsewhere.
Tough to stomach
Speaking of golf, a spectator heckled Keegan Bradley as a “cheater” for using a belly putter. I'm pretty sure that's what they used to call Charles Barkley before he joined Weight Watchers – a belly putter.
Extra-large motivation
Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant said teammate Pau Gasol must put on his “big-boy pants” and adjust to a new style of playing under coach Mike D'Antoni. You know Kobe. He always delivers his foolproof team chemistry-building metaphors one leg at a time.
Manning the maestro
Peyton Manning signaled for Denver Broncos fans to stop doing the wave in their win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, and the fans complied.
In related news, he has scheduled an offseason visit to Green Bay to stop the Discount Double Check.
Rank this
The University of Kentucky men's basketball team dropped out of the Top 25 for the first time since John Calipari became the coach. So, yes, it's just coincidence that he couldn't find a way to play Indiana this season.
Safety speech
Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed said the NFL is trying to turn the game into “powder puff” in favor of offensive football and away from physical play. Attempts to see if quarterbacks agree with Reed failed because they were all getting their Monday pedicures.
$250K is a lot of Ginobilis
NBA Commissioner David Stern fined the San Antonio Spurs $250,000 because coach Gregg Popovich decided not to play some of his star players in a nationally televised loss at Miami last week. Is it just me, or should Stern stick to coaching his own team, the Heat?
