Young poets win library’s contest

The Allen County Public Library announced the winners of its 30th annual poetry contest, “Just Write It!” The poems will be read aloud at 11 a.m. Saturday in the main library's theater at 900 Library Plaza.•Kindergarten: First place, Cameron Willwerth, “I Love Trucks.” Second place, Liam Snyder, “Yellow Stuff.” Third place, Adderly Surack “Friends Can.” Honorable mention, Lauren Biggs “My Teacher.”

Grade 1: First place, Evan Salah, “Cars.” Second place, Tara Tun, “The Acorn.” Third place, Katie Grace Schaefer, “Spanky.” Honorable mention, Brooklyn Woodward.

Grade 2: First place, Allison Smith, “Yuck.” Second place, Kiran Kulkarni, “Couplets.” Third place, Campbell Twomey, “Broccoli and Cheese.” Honorable mention, Rachel Musgrave.

Grade 3: First place, Reagan Salzbrenner, “Volleyball, Volleyball.” Second place, Ashton Widenhoefer, “Butterflies.” Third place, Adrienne Spieth, “Pigs.” Honorable mention. Makayla Woodbury, “Homonym.”

Grade 4: First place, Kristina Urberg, “The Perfect Tree.” Second place, Lauren Butler, “Dream.” Third place, Daniel Coker. Honorable mention, Gabby Spier, “Owl Chicks.”
