Road funds top county's list of legislative priorities

Friday, December 7, 2012 - 8:25 am

More money for local roads and streets tops the Allen County Commissioners’ the wish list presented to state legislators from northeast Indiana Thursday.

The county wants the state to stop using fuel taxes to support the State Police and Bureau of Motor Vehicles, seek taxes from alternative fuels and allow fuel taxes to increase with inflation. The Commissioners also favor increased funding for emergency 911 services, repeal of a law requiring counties to treat jail inmates’ pre-existing medical conditions and incentives for counties that reduce the number of non-violent felons sent to state prisons.
