ANDERSON — Police in a central Indiana city say a man died in surgery after he was repeatedly stabbed.
Anderson police Sgt. Bill Casey tells The Herald Bulletin that 23-year-old Willie Rump died Sunday at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, where he was transferred after he drove himself to Saint John's Medical Center in Anderson.
An off-duty police officer working security at the hospital found Rump covered in blood outside the emergency room shortly before 5 p.m.
Casey says Rump provided information that led police to a location in the city 30 miles northeast of Indianapolis. Officers found blood on the sidewalk leading up to a house.
Police are seeking the man who is believed to live in the house for questioning.
