Civil Rights activist and radio personality Madison to speak here Jan. 15

IPFW’s Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs and the MLK Club Inc. of Fort Wayne announced they are sponsoring the Second Annual Chocolate Hour at 7 p.m. Jan. 15 in the Walb Student Union International Ballroom.

Joe Madison, well-known civil rights activist and radio personality, will be the keynote speaker, with a presentation titled “The Relevancy of the Dream in 2013 and Beyond.” Madison can be heard on Sirius XM Satellite Radio Channel 128 6-10 a.m. weekdays. He is known as the "Black Eagle" or simply "Madison."

He established himself as a civil-rights activist as an executive with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) beginning in 1974 in Detroit. Over the next two decades he held several different positions within the organization.

The MLK Club Inc. of Fort Wayne is the producer of the largest celebration honoring the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. in the state of Indiana. The 27th Annual Unity Day Celebration honoring King will be held 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Grand Wayne Center, 120 W. Jefferson Blvd.

The 2nd Annual Chocolate Hour featuring Joe Madison is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
