Drug sweep results in arrests, charges in DeKalb County

The IMAGE Drug Task Force announced Monday that the task force finished a six-month investigation by serving arrest warrants on several individuals in DeKalb County, according to a news release.

Among those arrested in the sweep was Erich J. Zumbaugh, 19, of Auburn, who was charged with two Class C felonies of dealing in marijuana, hash oil, hashish, salvia or a synthetic drug.

Paul D. Turner, 32, of St. Joe, was charged with two Class B felonies of dealing in schedule II controlled substance, while Gavin R. Monroe, 22, of Garrett, was charged with Class D felony dealing in marijuana, hash oil, hashish, salvia or a synthetic drug.

Jeffery J. Pippenger, 57, of Albion, who is currently in the Westville Department of Corrections on unrelated charges, was charged with two Class B felonies of dealing in a schedule I, II or III controlled substance. James A. Damron, 25, of Butler, who is currently in the DeKalb County Jail on unrelated charges, faces three more felony charges of dealing in cocaine or a narcotic drug, while Justin T. Parker, 23, of Auburn, was charged with Class D felony maintaining a common nuisance.

Emily A. High, 20, was not part of the IMAGE investigation but was allegedly found in the company of Zumbaugh. High was arrested and charged with visiting a common nuisance, a Class B misdemeanor.

Officers also located items associated with illegal drug use at Zumbaugh's residence, and additional charges against Zumbaugh are pending. Police continue to search for three other individuals on multiple drug-related charges.

The IMAGE Drug Task Force was assisted by the Auburn Police Department, DeKalb County Sheriff's Department, Noble County Sheriff's Department and Albion Police Department.
