Auburn Police charge man after allegedly finding pocket meth labs

An Auburn man faces drug charges after police allegedly found a meth labs in his coat pockets Monday.Jeffery D. Hamilton, 29, is charged with possession of methamphetamine; possession of paraphernalia; and dealing methamphetamine, according to an Auburn Police news release.

At 3:30 a,m. Auburn Police responded to to a home to investigate a drug tip. Police talked to Hamilton in the home's driveway and officers were able to smell a strong chemical odor coming from him, according to the release. Police Cpl Joseph McGrade allegedly found two active methamphetamine labs in his coat pockets.

The homeowner gave consent to search the residence, where police found other evidence of the ongoing manufacturing and use of methamphetamine, according to the release.

The Indiana State Police, DeKalb County Sheriff, and Indiana Department of Child Services assisted Auburn Police with the investigation. Additional charges pending, according to the release.
